NORTH MACEDONIA-DIGITALIZATION OF PATENT FILING SERVICES

The State Industrial Property Office of North Macedonia in cooperation with the European Patent Organization EPO recently developed an e-platform for digitalization of services. The Front Office platform was launched on 02.10.2023, enclosing modules for submitting national and international patent applications, as well as applications for the extension of European patents and certificates for additional protection of medical products.

With this platform, the filing process in the field of patents is simplified, and at the same time, faster and simpler access to them is enabled.

Berin was one of the agencies involved from the very beginning of the platform’s testing phase, successfully submitting the first national patent e-application on 06/26/2023, in the test period.

With the official launch of the Front Office on 02.10.2023, we are pleased to confirm that we have successfully submitted a the first e-request for validation of European Patent in North Macedonia. The tendency of the State Industrial Property Office to modernize and operate according to world standards, as well as the gradual transition to digitalization, leaves room to hope that the Front Office platform will soon be implemented in the area of trademarks as well.
